What is NZ Family Travel?
NZ Family Travel is a planning resource built specifically for New Zealand families. We cover domestic NZ destinations and a growing range of popular overseas trips from NZ. Everything on this site is written with the assumption that you are travelling with kids — and that things like kid-friendly restaurants, rainy-day backups, and realistic driving distances with toddlers actually matter.
How We Research
Our content is built from a combination of:
- First-hand NZ family travel experience — our team have collectively visited every destination on this site with their own children
- Real price data — we check accommodation, activity, and campervan prices regularly and update our guides when things change significantly
- Operator verification — age restrictions, rain policies, and booking requirements are confirmed directly with operators before publication
- Community input — we are active in NZ family travel Facebook groups and incorporate real-world feedback from parents who have done these trips recently

Who Writes This Site?
NZ Family Travel is operated by a small team of New Zealand parents based across Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. We don't pretend to be professional travel journalists — we are parents who travel with kids and have worked out what actually matters (and what doesn't) through experience. Our most-visited guides are the ones that answer the questions we couldn't find good answers to when we were planning our own trips.
