Alexandra Family FAQ
Is the Otago Central Rail Trail suitable for families with kids?
Yes — the Rail Trail is gravel-surfaced and generally flat (follows an old railway line), making it suitable for children who can ride a bike confidently (typically 7+). You don't have to do the full 152km — most families do a 1-2 hour section. The Clyde to Alexandra section (25km) is one of the best short stretches. Bikes can be hired in Alexandra or Clyde.
