Queenstown Day
- 9am: Skyline Gondola and Luge — cable car up, 3+ luge runs each, views of the Remarkables
- 11:30am: Queenstown waterfront and central gardens — flat walk, duck pond, good playground
- 12:30pm: Lunch on The Mall or Steamer Wharf — try Fergburger (expect a queue)
- 2pm: Arrowtown (25min drive) — gold panning in the Arrow River ($8/person), historic Chinese village
- 4pm: Lake Hayes or Queenstown beach for a walk or swim
- Evening: Steamer Wharf restaurants or fish and chips at Frankton foreshore
- Buy Skyline Luge 5-run passes online — better value and avoids ticket queues
- Fergburger is genuinely excellent but the queue can be 30-45min at lunch — go at 11:30 or 2pm
- Arrowtown gold panning: sieve and pan are provided, kids find actual gold flakes every time
- The Queenstown Gardens playground near the lakefront is excellent for under-5s
