FAQ
How many days in Rotorua is enough for families?
2 full days covers the core sites (Wai-O-Tapu, Te Puia, evening cultural show). Add a third day for Hobbiton if that's a priority. 5 days including Taupo and Tongariro is the full circuit and well worth it.
Is Hobbiton worth the money for kids?
Yes for kids who know Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit (ages 8+). For younger kids it's still a beautiful farm walk with fun hobbit holes. The included drink at the Green Dragon at the end is a highlight for adults.
What is the best geothermal park in Rotorua?
Wai-O-Tapu is the most colourful and varied — the Artist's Palette and Champagne Pool are extraordinary. Te Puia has the best geyser (Pohutu) and includes Maori cultural content. For families, visit both if budget allows.
